Monthly SimLit Short Story Challenge – Announcement & Info
Part One – New Theme:
February 2020
THEME:
To celebrate the new year and the new decade, in January 2020 we started a NEW thing.
A little exercise in cooperative creativity.
A writing collab of sorts, if you will.
A new story for all of us that will cross blog-lines and if we allow it, will jog us past the comfort of our well worn predictable creative paths.
This month, February 2020, choose an antagonist from the January 2020 entries and integrate them into your protagonist’s story.
(You should be able to find them for DL in the gallery.
Please be kind and link the blog of your antagonist choice to your story so that the originator will get recognized too.
ANY questions please ask me.)
Some of my ramblings ❤
Please note that you do not have to find a villain!
It is true that often, the antagonist is a villain, BUT they don’t necessarily have to be.
Remember an antagonist is one that contends with or opposes … is somehow against the protagonist.
It can be an opponent, competitor, rival or they just maybe someone who has a different agenda.
Think outside of the box.
The antagonist is the principal source of conflict for the protagonist in your story.
In your February offering tell us about this conflicted relationship.
You can creatively incorporate the new sim into your story situation BUT you must play them as the person presented.
** Second chance **
If you missed the deadline to submit your protagonist for the monthly vote IT IS NOT TOO LATE to join the fun.
Muse on and create your protagonist.
Chose your antagonist.
Start your story from here.
I have given more breathing room in the word count for February so that it will allow you to flesh out your protagonist a bit as you address their relationship with their antagonist.
The only thing you will not be eligible for is the January vote and to have your protagonist participate as an antagonist in a fellow scribblers story.

What a great set of characters to select from. I have a couple of next phase story ideas, but I am settled on one already and can’t wait to get started on my own as well as to see what everyone comes up with next month! Good luck everyone, and happy scribbling.

I really want to participate in February’s challenge, but I’m a little confused. Do I have to write a short story for January, then write one for February using the sims other people submitted? Or will I have to write *one* story that both introduces the protagonist that I created and the antagonist someone else created?

No need to write 2 short story (unless you want to) .. just one that gives a bit of their story and using a sim submitted in Jan. Now if you want to have your sim included for the next month then be sure to upload to the gallery and give info or a link to help someone find it in the gallery .. so the choice is yours do something as simple as one story and a sim or if you love your new character then give them a good start. If you do that you can link back to that start in your blog AND post it in the SSSC forum thread. I am good with any and look forward to seeing your sub ❤

I uploaded Uri’s family to the gallery, if anyone’s interested. My Origin ID is 15aewar. Search for “Uri’s Tale”.

Okay…I voted on the SimLits for January. Everyone did such a great job. It was hard to pick only five!
Also, I just wanted to say that I filled out a Reedsy profile for Uri. It’s the sixth post down on the 48th page of the forum thread.
Good luck everyone! 🙂
