Monthly SimLit Short Story Challenge – Announcement & Info
Before I get started, I want to give some HIGH marks to the scribblers who jumped on this crazy idea of a 3-month-short-story writer’s collab.
I am pretty sure we all felt some degree of trepidation as we embarked.
But embark we did!
How would this end up looking for those who would stick it out for the three months?
Well, I can tell you!
For the ones with the audacity to start and the fortitude to finish,
as you are about to find out,
are looking mighty good!
NOT A BAD story in the lot.
Wonderful job!
Part One – New Theme:
I do confess I struggled with settling upon a theme this month.
The current world situation looms large – ahh what to do with it?
Avoid it?
Ignore it?
Embrace it?
People are hurting and people are fearful.
It is a time like no one has ever seen before.
I wanted something to touch the heart of our readers.
To bring a tiny bit of light.
BUT WHAT?
So where to go for inspiration?
Google of course.
Scanning I found the most amazing quote from Mark Twain,
“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.”
So my scribbling friends, let’s dig into our bag of tricks and pull out our best weapons this month.
Let’s make ’em laugh!
Pick one of these “funny” words and use it in a humorous story.
Jocose Waggish Wisecracker Farceur Buffoon Larker
Yep, it may not be easy (even I am wondering what the heck I am thinking)
BUT after all, this is a CHALLENGE!

I so enjoyed all these stories and how they progressed over the last few months! Brilliant writing, everyone! My votes are in but it was difficult, for sure, as all are deserving!

I’m kicking myself for getting distracted by shiny objects and missing the vote! At least it’s not too late to read everyone’s story. Man, there was some rough competition for Novice this round, huh?
I’ll be cheering y’all on from the bleachers this month. The current chapter I’m writing does fit the quote to a T—like, without giving too much away, that quote’s spot-on for the Sims universe—but if the goal is to bring a little bit of light, yeah, that’s a job for someone else. Wouldn’t want to rain on anyone’s parade. Stay healthy and sane!
